December 10, 2022, Supervisor Jim Desmond of the 5th District of the County Board of Supervisors recognized Beacons with a Certificate of Commendation titled "Making Dreams a Reality" for the Navigator enriched day option to be launched in January 2022, and for its PathFinder vocational training division for adults with intellectual disabilities. Beacons president Mary Backer and the full Board was present to accept.

The occasion was also marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce to welcome the second expansion of the nonprofit since opening its doors to vocational training in 2019. Beacons programming is funded in large part by the San Diego Regional Center under the Lanterman Act so that postsecondary adults may attend at no charge to them.

The Director of the new Navigator program will be Bethany Britt, M.Ed., a former special education teacher from the San Dieguito Union High School District. The PathFinder vocational training division is lead by Director Tyler Hershey.
