Beacons' Voyager option provides mentors to help you do things in groups or with your own private mentor/coach! Do you have a group of self-determination friends and you just need someone to take you places? Voyager is the option for you! 😊
Examples of things you can do through Voyager!

Do fun things in the community (e.g. concert, hiking, bowling, miniature golf, and more!)
-
Customized lessons! (Art, Digital tools, Cooking ...)
-
Get help for school!
-
Get help getting and keeping a job, paid internship or volunteer position!
-
Help with a fitness routine!

FAQS:
How many hours can a person get?
For Self-Determination clients, hours are governed by the funding available in the individual's spending plan and the goals for the service.
-
Beacons' Voyager minimum hourly rate: $50
How do you sign up?
Start the process by completing the Interest Form.
Who works with the applicant?
Our Voyager mentors are insured, live-scanned and pre-trained before working with the "voyager" to make sure he/she/they is aware of any safety, behavior or health issues that may impact the provision of services and to make sure the mentor knows how to support the trainee. Voyagers will be in good hands!
How to get self-determination funding?
Start the process now!
1. Watch an orientation video through the SDRC or SCDD (SDRC.org website),
2. Then if you want to enroll in the self-determination program, notify your service coordinator.
3. Create a person-centered plan so that you can figure out what you want to do and what services you need.
4. Attend a meeting with your service cordinator to create an Independent Budget.
5. Once you get your Independent Budget, create your spending plan and submit it to your service coordionator for approval. Once approved, submit it to the fiscal management service you selected to start the "voyage!"
